MEGHAN MAKES HER HOME

Meghan’s first challenge to me was to create a plan where every major room could have a view out the back of the house and across the valley, below a stunning hillside home-site. The second challenge was to fit the living area of the house within not more than 2200 square feet. Plus, it had to be compact enough to fit in a small clearing on the property.

The solution was to stack the plan two rooms deep, but with almost no walls to hinder line of site. There’s only enough structure to hold up the house, but not block the view from room to room and house to valley. This yields these rooms with a view : Foyer, Family, Dining, Kitchen, Master Bedroom, Powder Bath, and Laundry. Even the Carport, which will double as a Party Porch, can ‘see’ the full sky across the valley floor.

I got everything to fit, but needed two point six extra square feet. Meghan was so pleased, she forgave me. This is her home, now.
